A Romantic Situation !!!

I got the call from my Project manager. Yes..!!!, Of course it was my onsite opportunity for Germany that was knocking my door.

"It’s for a period of six months tentatively" said my boss."I will send you a mail kindly refer to that and come meet me".
"Sure done", I replied happily with all my anxiety to see the mail.
As I was riding through the entire mail, was happy about all the checkpoints, "My location", "My job assigned", "My living place".
I had a broader smile to summarize, "this is perfectly what I was expecting!”
All of a sudden something crashed me, it was the date. It read, "Feb.16 2010". To my first shock it was just a week away.
When I was thinking how to manage the entire arrangement within a week, the second shock stroked me.
It was the date again, "Feb. 16 2010". It was my SweetHeart's entry on earth. Yes..., it was the birth date of my wife.
I got married to her five months back. Yes..!!!! "Ours was a love come arranged."
She was the best thing tat had ever happened to me and she Understands me well at all times. I patted and said to myself,
“Come on she was quite practical she will know your situation". I reached home late a little late than usual that night.
I had brought chocolates and sweets for my family to share the happy news. My Mom was happy to hear at that and so did the entire family, except for my only love.
I don't know how to convince her. I just started with, "I have already told you this might happen, even before we married".
She wept, "You never said that this would happen before we loved". And she continued "I can't be normal without you".
I tried to convince her, "It’s just a matter of Three months bubbly, I will be back soon". I took an hour for me to convince her. That day in our bed room, she asked me the date of my journey. I realized that I had missed to say the most danger part of the News.
It replied tentatively, "It’s on Feb. 16 2010". The day ended where she went and slept with my mom, which she normally does when she is angry with me and my mom never asks a word about that.

I was busy the entire week preparing for the journey in morning and convincing my wife in the evening.

She wailed to me, "You lied. You said u will never leave me. But not even 6 months are over and already u r going away".
I had no words for so i maintained my silence. On the day before my journey, I returned home very late.
I had already called her at twelve to wish her, "Happy birthday!”

I got home at 1:00 am with chocolates and flower bouquets which she received with a smile that killed me and said formal thanks.
I said, "I am really sorry Honey and I really mean it".
She hugged me tighty and slept with her arms around me. I knew she was hurting like hell .There was nothing i could say tat could convince her.

"FEB 16 2010", the day on which I hoped that everything should go fine and the day my wife wished never to come. We had a cake cutting ceremony for her in the evening, she accepted every ones wish and Gift very normally. She didn't want to spoil others mood for her own feelings.
I had my flight at 11.00 pm, we arrived two hours before the departure .Even my in laws had arrived to send me OFF.
Exactly an hour before, I could check in. I called my wife who was crying hugging her mom.
"Pls take care, use my laptop for mail and video chat". She wept and said, "Hmmmm...I love you and will Miss you".
I presented an envelope as my gift for her bday and said, "Open It."
She had poured happiness and joy .She couldn't believe her own eyes. Yess...! "It’s her ticket to fly with me to Germany".
It’s my turn I said, "I told u I won’t leave without u. happy birthday bubbly." She hugged me with love and we had a roll of kiss.
We had a ring of claps around us in the airport. Every family member knew about my surprise except her.

All my arrangements i had been doing for the past week was just for her, not for me.

I am Arun Kumar, doing my 2nd year engineering and living in a hostel in one of those million engineering colleges in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. I had just received an SMS with the above text at around midnight. Basically being a barren land when it comes to girls, I was not sure how to react to that message. It was pretty obvious that the message was not intended for me but I didnt want to let go of this opportunity. A thousand questions ran through my mind as I looked at the SMS for the 197th time in 5 minutes. Should I reply saying Im not Rahul? Should I call that number? Should I ignore the message? What if its an attu piece? Damn! Ive never strained my brain so much in my life. Finally I decided to temporarily ignore the message. Firstly, I didnt want to portray myself as too desperate by replying immediately, and secondly, it would give me time to think..

After a lot of deliberation, I decided to reply next morning from class. Hi Sheela.. sorry for the late reply.. had slept yesterday.. Im doin great.. wazzup with u? Yes, I had done what Madhavan did in Minnale. I knew I was no Maddy in looks, but how would she ever find out through a phone? Nervous and struggling to concentrate in class, I waited for a reply from Sheela. After a wait of around 20 minutes which seemed like an eternity, I received an SMS.

Hey! Im good 2...slept so soon?? I thot guys in IIT hostels dont sleep so early! Anyways, no problems.... where r u now? Bunked class? Its been ages since we spoke.. I guess we didnt talk after the school farewell??

IIT. A mini explosion took place in my heart. IIT enga naa enga? No wonder she had messaged Rahul after a looooong time! But I decided to carry on. Confident machi.. confident I said to myself and replied:

It was indeed a nice convo, not after a long time - but for the first time. I just realised that I had spent almost the entire morning session in messaging her. There are a few ways to check if your kadalai session went well - First, you should lose track of time. Second and most important: you should not remember what you spoke. I succeeded in both and found myself smiling - for no reason.

There was no way I could tell my friends what I was up to. There are some drawbacks of being a gethu gang ( member in college - you were not allowed to talk to girls. Friends would first tease you. Then warn you not to trust girls. Then ignore you. Then abuse you. The guys in hostel would think I was some villain and leave me out of their plans. I was not going to let that happen to me.

The addiction got worse each day. I ignored food, I ignored sleep, I ignored my studies. All I cared in life was the SMS from her. I succeeded in almost everything - I got to know about her, I got to know about Rahul, I made her get addicted to her mobile as much as I was to mine. But there were a few questions which I couldnt find answers to. Firstly, is this love? Secondly, is she an attu figure or good figure? Thirdly, how and when am I going to tell her the truth?

The second question didnt really matter because I was too addicted to her anyways. The only problems seemed to be the 1st and 3rd questions, and there was only one way I was going to find answers to those - ignore her. Time would solve my confusions, I thought and started ignoring her. Yes, I decided to stop sending or replying to her messages from then on.

It was easier said that done though. My hands would itch to grab the mobile and send her a message - especially when I was sitting bored in a stupid lecture. The first 2-3 days were very extremely difficult. I would get a forward or two from her, which I read and ignored. If the first few days were difficult, the next 2-3 were unbearable.

Hey.. wassup?, Hey..too busy or what? showing off that you are an IIT-an to me eh? Thought you were not one of those nerds? , This is why I HATE IIT!. These were a few messages that I got from her. She would never receive a reply.

A week passed, and it was getting clearer to me that I couldnt live without her. The first question was answered. Call it love. Cal it friendship. Call it whatever. I wanted to talk to her. But the week also taught me an important thing - that I cant continue this for long. I HAD to tell her the truth. But how could I suddenly give her such a shock? What if she stops talking to me? What if she goes to the cops? A million questions ran through my mind when my phone beeped.

Hi.. look I dont know what happened to you all of a sudden.. its been a while since you contacted me.. I dont understand why you are avoiding me..but let me tell you one thing.. I dont think I can be normal without messaging you..I dont know what else to say.. all I can say is plzzz reply! Miss u

I was happy and sad. I was happy that she missed me. I was sad that I had put her through this. An important question had just been answered. She indeed felt the same way I did. But there was an important and unanswered question. How will she react when I tell her the truth? After all, I was neither Rahul nor an IIT-an. Continue acting - told a part of me. Tell her the truth, said another. I decided not to think. I took my phone, closed my eyes and typed as fast as I could.

I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work. Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times." "I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought. He didn't.

He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke. "That's a very pretty car," he said. He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly blond beard keeps more than his face warm. I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.
He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice. "Do you need any help?" I asked. He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments. I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me. "Don't we all?" he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge shotgun. Don't we all?
I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help. Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that. You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see. Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves. Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help." Don't we all?

Imagine what would be the magnitude of the inner struggle for him, pain both mental and physical, tears that have frozen with time, knees and ankles and every other joint in the body that is either bandaged or needs to be attended to every night, eyes that don’t sleep before a big game, bats that have scored 99 international tons and still see expectations from a billion people.

And he just converts those expectations into reality. We watch in awe, feel privileged.
Well I think its time that his team realizes that enough is enough. They have an obligation, not towards their country alone but towards sachin. They need to win this one for him. Stay assured that he himself will still deliver and leave no stone unturned to make sure India wins this cup.

Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

All my life, I've been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.

Okhil Babu’s letter to the Railway Department (early 1900’s - Imagine a Bangla accent)

I am got leaved at Ahmedpur station. This too much bad, if passenger go to make dung that dam guard not wait train five minutes for him. I am therefore pray your honour to make big fine on that guard for public sake. Otherwise I am making big report to papers.”

Okhil Chandra Sen wrote this letter to the Sahibganj divisional railway office in 1909. It is on display at the Railway Museum in New Delhi. It was also reproduced under the caption “Travellers’ Tales” in the Far Eastern Economic Review.

1). The lecturers don't teach.The students don't study.The only guy who benefits is the one who owns the 'dhaba' next to the college.
2).Rules are made to be broken.

3).Promises are made to be broken.

4).Deadlines are made to be extended...ALWAYS!

5).Guys always think the chicks in the college next lane are more beautiful.

5).The geeks are the most pampered lot during the internal exams.

6).The lab assistants are the most respected people(during the lab exams i.e)

7).The watchmen are the people most bribed.

8).The HOD is the person most respected(heights of sycophancy here).

9).The principal is the person most abused and insulted(behind the back i.e)

19).The first three years are spent in cursing the college,the people there,the system et al.
20).But towards the end of the fourth year,people tend to feel nostalgic abt the pure unadulterated fun they have had for 4 years.Now the very system they disliked,the very canteen they cursed,the time that they spent there,the bday bums they suffered..all these seem like heaven to them.

A date with a woman

After 21 years of Marriage, my Wife wanted me to take another Woman out to Dinner and a Movie.

        She said I Love You but I know this other Woman loves you and would Love to spend some Time with You.

        The other Woman that my Wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a Widow for 19 years, but the demands of my Work and my three Children had
           made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

        That night I called to Invite her to go out for Dinner and a Movie.

        'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked?

        My Mother is the type of Woman who suspects that a Late Night Call or a Surprise Invitation is a sign of Bad News.

        'I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you,' I responded.

        'Just the two of us.'

        She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.'

        That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous.
        When I arrived at her House, I noticed that she too seemed to be Nervous about our Date.

        She waited in the Door with her Coat on.

        She had curled her Hair and was wearing the Dress that she had worn to celebrate her last Wedding Anniversary.

        She smiled from a face that was as Radiant as an Angel's.

        'I told my Friends that I was going to go out with My Son, and they were impressed, 'she said, as she got into the Car.

        'They can't wait to hear about our meeting'.

        We went to a Restaurant that, although not Elegant, was very nice and cozy.

        My Mother took my Arm as if She were the First Lady.

        After we sat down, I had to read the Menu. Large Print.

        Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me.

        A Nostalgic Smile was on her Lips.

        'It was I who used to have to Read the Menu when you were Small,'

        She said.

        'Then it's Time that you Relax and let me Return the Favor,'

        I responded.

        During the Dinner, we had an Agreeable Conversation, nothing Extra-ordinary, but catching up on recent Events of each others Life.

        We talked so much that we missed the Movie.

        As we arrived at her House later,

        She said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.'

        I agreed.

        'How was your Dinner Date?' asked My Wife when I got Home.

        'Very Nice. Much more so than I could have Imagined,' I answered.

        A few days later, my Mother died of a Massive Heart Attack.

        It happened so suddenly that I didn't have Time to do anything for her.
        Some time later, I received an Envelope with a Copy of a Restaurant Receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined.

        An Attached Note Said:

        'I paid this Bill in Advance.

        I wasn't sure that I could be there;

        But nevertheless, I paid for Two Plates
                                One for You and the Other for Your Wife.

        You will never know what that Night meant for Me.

        I Love You, My Son.'

        At that moment, I understood the Importance of saying in Time:
        'I LOVE YOU!'

        And to give our Loved Ones the Time that they deserve. Nothing in Life is more important than God and you’re Family.

        Give them the Time they Deserve, because these Things cannot be
        Put Off till 'Some Other Time.'

A priest was being honored at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the Parish. A leading Senator and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and give a little speech at the dinner.

Just as the priest finished his talk, the republican senator arrived full of apologies at being late. He immediately began to make the presentation and gave his talk.
